Introducing the How to Change the World Toolkit
The How to Change the World toolkit is designed to help primary-age pupils in Cardiff explore local social action, understand their rights, and make a difference in their communities. Tailored specifically for Wales, it complements UNICEF’s Youth Advocacy Toolkit and aligns with Cardiff’s goal to support younger pupils in meaningful participation.
- Why this Toolkit? Developed in response to feedback from primary schools, this toolkit fills a gap in supporting pupil-led projects to connect with local decision-makers.
- How it Fits with RRSA: How to Change the World supports schools working toward silver and gold RRSA status, addressing Outcomes 8 and 9.
- Curriculum Support: Created in collaboration with Cardiff Council’s curriculum team, this toolkit comes with a curriculum map to show its alignment with the new curriculum in Wales.

Children’s thoughts, ideas, and voices matter. We made this guide so they can use their voice to make their community, country, and the world a better place. By sharing their ideas and speaking to the right people, they can make big changes locally and globally.
